Drawing on recent studies of narcissistic and borderline personality disorders, Bromberg and Small are able to conceptualize Hitler's psychopathology in a new way. Their hypothesized diagmosis reduces the puzzles and paradoxes that have confused previous writers. Fresh insights are gained, for instance, into Hitler's relationship with the mysterious "Stefanie", as well as into the intensity of his anti-Semitism. By carefully weighting the numerous sources on Hitler's life, the authors make their argument all the more convincing.
